Why Computer Science Enrollment is Declining
In my September 17th article "Declining Computer Science Enrollment" I didn't provide much context as to why the decline was happening, and how it would change in the next few years. Hopefully this will shed some light on it.
Consider these two graphs:

CS Enrollment at the University of Waterloo

NASDAQ Exchange from 1995-2005
So it turns out that enrollment is procyclical, and because it takes 4 years to graduate, its also a big of a lagging variable. So to see where things are headed, consider the last 2.5 years of relative stability.

Interesting observation. Considering there is or should be a class graduating every year that would support economic stability. Yet, we see trends with an apparent connection to small over the counter securities.Neat.
