What is this place?
I think that every website needs a purpose. If it doesn't have a purpose its just making the signal-noise ratio of the web worse, and that is not a'tall a good thing.
What is my websites' purpose? First and foremost it is a sandbox that I can use to learn and try new things related to internet programming. This is something that it is succeeding at because as we can see I am learning new things and have a way to illustrate those things in a publicly accessible way.
Secondly it is a web log, an online diary, and place to write thoughts. To this extent it is almost an utter failure. Why? Because there is little on these pages which is distinguishably from the mind of me, Terrill. But that's the way it has to be because of Religion, Work, and Girlfriends... the three taboo's of blogging.
I have thought about creating an anonymous blog where I could discuss anything. The problem is that nothing would have context, and that would really bug me, because of the absolute importance that context brings to arguments and ideas.
In closing I appologize to those of you who know me and feel like this is a place that is dry of substance. Hopefully now you know why.

This expresses some of my own thoughts as well. Writing a really personal blog is like any kind of personal artistic expression (poetry, painting, whatever) in that you really lay yourself bare. It's just that the web can create a very big audience very quickly. But ultimately, you're right about staying away from the trifecta of terror. And I'm not sure that the anonymous blog is really the answer, either. (Maybe post your ansty rants on craigslist or something?)Anyhow, take a gander at this: http://xkcd.com/c137.html
