I can't pull your teeth.
It's like pulling teeth to get your teeth pulled 'round here!
"We can take you now if you have a minute", she said.
"Sure", I promptly replied. I'll take the morning off work if she'll pull my teeth.
... three minutes pass ...
"Looks like they're impacted", she said.
... two more minutes pass ...
"You'll need to see a specialist for these. Suzzy, please get him Dr. C's card."
"You mean you can't pull them yourself? But I can see them", I begged - but to no avail.
8 Years post secondary, and she couldn't pull two teeth! To me, that is a basic skill all dentist must be able to practise. If they can't – they neither deserve the prefix on their name nor the letters that come after it. It's like me somehow getting my Masters in Mathematics, but not knowing how to take a double integral of a continuous function. Not only that, but miraculously getting a job after that! It's not an easy task, but you really should know it... after 8 years.

Yes, It didn't go very well. I will be in the reclining seat again on Thursday, and then once more for the actual pulling of teeth at a later date. :(

Are you referring to your wisdom teeth? When teeth are impacted I think it means they're coming in sideways, or coming into your jaw or another tooth, so to pull them you may need some sort of surgical procedure.

Yeah, my wisdoms were impacted and I was knocked out for three days so that they could dig them out and drill them out of my jaw. Impacted is worse than it sounds.

Impacting sort of refers to wisdom and other molars. When I had my wisdom teeth out, they broke my jaw to get at them. One was growing sideways against the others, not fun. I was out for over a week! Impacting also can refer to clenching your jaw in your sleep or even when you are awake without realizing it. Clenching your jaw hard can kill the nerve under the tooth, which eventually causes rot and terrible pain. A dead tooth can cause a lot of harm!

Nothing better than a dentist with a few years experience! :) My upper two were quickly removed by my family dentist yesterday. It will allow the inflammation to subside, and let the lowers advance a bit more. In May I will be back in the chair to get my lower two out. The moral of the story is this: one dentists' "impacted, go see this specialist" teeth are another's routine pull.
