New Years at the Guvernment

edit: This post was lost due to me switching back from wordpress to a static page, so this is a re-write.

What a night! The Guvernment was spectacular last night, all the rooms were packed! I'd heard conflicting reports about Toronto and New Years. Some say that it is great, and others cautioned me against going. Like most things in life, you have to make your own decisions about things and in order for me to make an informed decision I had to go. So whats the verdict? It's excellent. I mean Excellent.

It may have been the slightly less than ideal weather that most of Southern Ontario was experiencing, but the city was surprisingly calm. We walked east on Front Street past the ever-classy Royal York to the lineup of restaurants. There weren't lineups, and no wait for a table even without reservations. That made me happy because it was the only part of the evening I was unsure on. Tickets to a hotel and club are a must, but unless your going to go somewhere very fancy for dinner I wouldn't bother making reservations.

The Guvernment was interesting. The first giant room that you enter into is a mess. I urge you to find another one which is less crowded. Upon doing so, we had a fabulous time. Great music, and great people. The place was so large though, it struck me by surprise at how large it was.

So thats it. Thats New Years. Oh, we stayed at the Westing Harbour Castle and it was beautiful. I would recommend it.
