First Experience with Content Creation

Many of you may know about my rich history in the printing business. Most of my pre-university years were spent in the dusty high-ceiling rooms of the printing industry where I would help run printing presses, and do various other types of bindary services. I was in the business of "production".

This summer I had the opportunity to reverse roles join those people I loving call the "content creators". The book was Beginning Google Maps Applications with PHP and AJAX: From Novice to Professional and I was the technical editor. It was an interesting, tiring, and personally rewarding experience.

When I look at a technical book the biggest deterant to purchase is the thought that it might not go into sufficient depth. The book does offer a great introduction to the Google Maps API, but I think that the word "beginning" sells it short, and would like to take this opportunity to emphasis the "to professional" part a bit more. The authors varying areas of expertise come together to provide the most thorough guide to one of, if not the most powerful online tool outside of the google search engine itself. If you are interested in the Google Maps API, or even just mapping in general you will not be disappointed.
