Just Between Friends
With the absolute prevailance of Instant Messaging (IM) in our society, especially during the September to April semesters, email has become a formal form of communication. This makes email etiquette even more important than it was in its early days. One of the most overlooked areas is timing.
E-mail is so readily available that there isn't enough of a buffer time between you writing and the recipeient reading. You have to be careful how fast you reply to a friends letter or you might both find yourselves out of words, and then its just not as fun. Next time you get an email from a friend you havent talked to in a while, take your time replying. Its worth it in the long run.
