One Sentence Paragraphs
Have you ever noticed that newspapers almost never have a multi-sentence paragraph? My initial thoughts were "Of all the people who should be able to write cohesively..." but then, under a more calm head I've concluded that newspaper writing is the way it is because of the reading level of the general public. Any more complex and you could risk leaving out a segment of the population. Unfortunately for newspapers that still doesn't make me happy.

A lot of novels have one- and two-sentence paragraphs as well. I remember talking about this in my grade 12 Writer's Craft. They spend most of high school beating 5-paragraph essays into you, with their absurd five- and six-sentences, and then suddenly in fictional composition, it's back to being reasonable divisions of thought again.Newspapers also have the issue of very short line-lengths, which exacerbates the problem.
